Cast: Abijeet Duddala, Sudhakar Komakul, Kaushik, Shagun Kaur, Zara Shah, Rashmi Shastry, Kavya, Naveen, Sanjeev, Sriram
Producer,Director: Sekhar Kammula
Music :Mickey J Meyer
Rating : 3.5/5
Story :
Life is Beautiful is about about three youngsters Srinu, Nagaraj and Abhi’s realization of life while trying to exploring their love interests. There are 2 colonies one is Gold phase colony, where rich people stay and other is B phase colony where middle and poor class stay.
Srinu (Abijeeth)stays with her sister in law Padmavati(Sahgun) and in love with her. Nagaraj comes from vizag to Hyderabad for studies and find Laxmi. and Abhi (Kaushik) tries to impress Shriya of Gold phase And of course Maya Madam(Anjali)belongs to B phase colony who is a dream lady for boys over there. Movie takes a turn when they see an unexpected life changing event to one of their closed ones. Rest of the movie is about how they worked towards their goals.
Performances:
Amala Akkineni performance as middle class modern mother suffering from cancer is good ,but her presence after 20 years is not so extraordinary, Shreya as rich girl looks still glamorous recommended as heroine for old boys, Sherya looks dominating and older with the new comers and young actors on the screen… Anajali as maya madam is not that important role, Characterization of Anjala was unnecessary. Other young characters like Abijeet Duddala, Sudhakar Komakul, Kaushik, Shagun Kaur, Zara Shah, Rashmi Shastry, Kavya, Naveen, Sanjeev, Sriram are still raw though director tried his level best to extract juice out of them.
Technical:
Director Sekhar Kammula has taken all the responsibility to manage things properly with balanced picturization is appreciable. But Screen play was very weak, Editing was good but there were lot of unnecessary scenes. Mickey J Meyer’s music, the songs as well as the background score is good perfect for Sekhar’s trademark movie. Vijay’s Cinematography Very good. Vijay’s brought out the exquisite line and colors to the screen.
Analysis:
Life is beautiful is typical out and out Shekar’s film targeted for only A class audience. It’s a kichidi of 3 love stories running parallel at the same time it is also a satire on suicide attempt. Theme of the movie is not anything new. His earlier film was on college which had some life in it and youth oriented factors and audience had connected to the roles . In LIB, He tried to show the colours of Life, Money is not life and life is about staying together sharing everything , Sekhar Kammula managed to bring in good humor during the first half with few good scenes but pace is very slow and scenes are way too similar to Happy Days. The second half has the more touchy scenes in typical Sekhar Kammula style and they seem to have struck a chord slightly. The success of the film depends a lot on the reception of these emotional scenes in the second half. Overall second half is better than first half.
Highlights
Fresh feel with the youngsters
Comedy scenes between Abhi and Paru (Shreya).
Nagraj’s Telangana slang
Last but not the least Sekhar’s taking
